This practice begins to unveil just how powerful breathing is to nervous system regulation. Meet your respiratory diaphragm, which is both your primary breathing tool and your primary stability tool. With innervation from both your Somatic (voluntary) and autonomic (involuntary) parts of your mind, this muscle is a potent interpreter, guide and communicator. This session includes an introduction to polyvagal theory, as well as some of the potent structures, relationships and sequences of breathing. Practice may be done seated on a chair or standing. If standing, please have a wall or sturdy piece of furniture nearby for stability. We will also use our block.
